Jon Boat Fishing Trip
This outing is exactly what it states ... a fishing trip on a jon boat! This 5-hour fishing trip on the flatwaters of the James River offers spectacular fishing for sunfish, bass and catfish. It's also the perfect outdoor classroom. Activities include fishing, wildlife watching, minnow seining, rock flipping, fish identification and macroinvertabrate exploration. This trip combines all the best things that come with a day of fishing!
Participants will enhance their knowledge of fishing and the environment as they fish the flatwaters of the non-tidal river from a jon boat. One of the goals of this trip is to involve them in exciting hands-on activities and teach them the importance of our natural resources and environmental stewardship.
Kids Jon Boat Fishing Trip: $395 for two
Jon Boat limited to two anglers.
All tackle, gear, life preservers and bottled water provided.
Trip based on river level at Westham Gauge. Less than 5.0 ft is ideal for this trip.

To the right: This father and his two girls enjoy a day out on the James catching flathead catfish, sunfish and a few smallmouth bass. The girls, excellent fishergirls and swimmers, were two of the finest young anglers to grace the flatwaters of the James River. The one holding the fish ... hooked, fought and landed the fish all by herself. She also took the hook out, and probably would have been able to take a selphie with it. Very talented!
